Atmospheric Rescue Technician (ART) Course Description
Prerequisite: Confined Space Rescue Technician
This 36-hour course is designed for the Industrial or Municipal (First Responders) emergency response teams that are Confined Space Rescue Technicians. This class is all hands on and focuses strictly on atmospheric rescues. Students will utilize SCBA’s and Supplied Air Respirator systems for an all hands class consisting of nothing but atmospheric rescues. Students will be competent at operating a Supplied Air Respirator System. Students will be competent at conducting rescues wearing SCBA’s and Supplied Air Respirator Systems. Atmospheric Rescue Scenarios are conducted on our 6 Story Rescue Training Laboratory along with the use of theatrical smoke for simulated adverse atmospheres.
Skills: How to operate Supplied Air Systems. Perform scenario based rescues utilizing Supplied Air and SCBA’s in both horizontal and vertical situations. Airline and rope management skills. Lowering and raising with a Supplied air and SCBA on. Two rescuer skills with Supplied air and SCBA’s. Rescue with limited visibility environment. PPE for atmospheric rescues and much more.
Class size is limited to 12 in order to ensure small student-to-instructor ratio for maximum hands-on learning for the students.
