Hazardous Materials Training

Hazardous Waste Site Worker OSHA 1910.120, EPA 40 CFR, 40 hours

If your responsibilities require you to work within a hazardous waste site, OSHA requires you to be familiar with methods and procedures to protect yourself and others from the safety and health risks of hazardous materials. This workshop provides an opportunity for hands-on skills development and is designed to meet OSHA's training requirements for the HAZWOPER standard -- 29 CFR 1910.120 paragraphs (b) through (o) for hazardous waste site workers.

This event is designed and recommended for personnel routinely involved in the remediation of uncontrolled hazardous waste sites including EPA Superfund sites, RCRA corrective action sites or voluntary cleanups sites.

Participants will:

  • Identify and practice methods and procedures for recognizing, evaluating and controlling hazardous substances
  • Identify concepts, principles, and guidelines to properly protect personnel and the surrounding environment
  • Select and use appropriate protective equipment -- including respirators, protective suits, boots and gloves
  • Create a Health and Safety Plan (HASP)

Haz-Mat Technician Training OSHA 1910.120, 24 hours

This Training Meets the OSHA training requirements of hazardous material technician-level for emergency responders as outlined in the HAZWOPER standard, 29 CFR 1910.120(q). Haz-Mat technicians are individuals who respond to releases or potential releases for the purpose of stopping the release.

This training is designed and recommended for facility and/or manufacturing personnel who are currently on or are planning to join a HazMat response team with the responsibility of responding to hazardous materials releases and spills.

Participants will:

  • Identify methods and procedures for recognizing, evaluating, and controlling hazardous substances
  • Identify guidelines to properly protect response personnel
  • Discuss regulations and actions designed to ensure the health and safety of workers
  • Discuss fundamentals of organizational structure and standard operating procedures
  • Select and use appropriate personal protective equipment
  • Demonstrate the use and limitations of direct-reading air monitoring instruments

Haz-Mat Refresher Training OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120, 8 hours

In compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 regulations, this training is required for individuals who have a role with Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response.  This class serves as an annual refresher for those who have completed Hazardous Materials Waste Site Worker Training and Hazardous Materials Technician Training.
