Members of the Oklahoma Association of Teachers of Family and Consumer Sciences association gathered together in Durant, Okla., in August 2026.

Officers from the Oklahoma Association of Teachers of Family and Consumer Sciences gathered together from across the state to attend the Oklahoma Association of Career and Technology Education Leadership Conference held August 26–28, 2026, in Durant, Oklahoma.

Bobbie Back, OATFCS vice-president and Teacher Prep instructor at the Northeast Tech Pryor Campus, noted the meeting as an opportunity for growth.

“Professional development and leadership opportunities like OKACTE Leadership allow our officers to grow as leaders while bringing new ideas and energy back to Family and Consumer Sciences education. We are proud to represent OATFCS and advocate for the important role FCS educators play in preparing Oklahoma students for college, careers, and life,” said Back.

Throughout the three-day event, OATFCS officers attended leadership sessions designed to build effective communication, teamwork, advocacy, and organizational leadership skills.

The conference also provided opportunities to connect with other CareerTech professionals and share ideas that can strengthen Career and Technology Education programs across Oklahoma.

OATFCS officers' participation in the OKACTE Leadership Conference demonstrates the organization’s commitment to developing strong leaders and supporting educators throughout Oklahoma.

As active members of Oklahoma’s CareerTech system, OATFCS leaders continue to advocate for Family and Consumer Sciences education and the valuable skills it provides to students, families, and communities.

OATFCS supports and promotes Family and Consumer Sciences educators and programs throughout Oklahoma. Through professional development, networking, advocacy, and collaboration, OATFCS works to strengthen the profession and ensure students have opportunities to develop the essential skills needed for success in their personal, academic, and professional lives.
