Board Policy 5092

Annual Leave

  1. Twelve-Month Employees: Employees of the District both certified and support staff, who are regular Fulltime or Part-time with Benefits twelve-month employees, shall have 15 days of annual leave front-loaded on July 1st of each year. Employees hired during the school year will be credited with annual leave on a prorated basis. The length of an employee’s “day” will be the number of hours regularly scheduled during a typical work day. If Employee’s employment ceases for any reason prior to the end of that fiscal year, the value of each day of annual leave taken, but not earned, shall be deducted from the Employee’s remaining pay, or if the Employee’s remaining pay is not sufficient, the Employee must pay that amount to the district.

  2. Annual leave must be taken during the year (JULY 1- JUNE 30) it accrues. Annual leave days not taken during the year are lost and will not be paid for or extended.

  3. If an employee covered by this policy terminates their employment during a fiscal year during which the employee has accumulated, but not used, their annual leave, the employee will be paid for the accrued, but unused, days.

  4. Leave must be approved by the employee’s supervisor. Approval will be based on staffing requirements, employee length of service, and extenuating circumstances.
