Insurance and Other Benefits

The Board of Education of NT adopts this policy to provide the benefits set out below, for the benefit of support personnel, administrators and all other personnel of NT except temporary or Regular Part-time employees that do not qualify and those employees who are members of the NT Association of Classroom Teachers (ACT). ACT members are specifically covered by the Negotiated Agreement and not by this policy.

  • Subject to the provisions set out below, NT shall provide each Regular Full-time employee covered by this policy a $17,460.00 annual health and fringe benefit allowance each Part-time with Benefits employee a $13,095.00 annual health and fringe benefit allowance and each bus driver working over 20 hours per week an $8730.00 annual health and fringe benefit allowance (the “Allowance”) to be used as follows:

  1. As a part of the Allowance, NT shall pay from its funds and funds provided by the State 100% of the health, dental and vision premiums to the Oklahoma State and Education Employees Group Health Choice High Option Plan (the “State Plan”) for each covered employee. If the employee selects a health plan that costs less than the Health Choice High option, the employee will receive the remainder as taxable income or as an option outlined below.

  2. Employee Option: The use of the remainder of the Allowance, after the cost of the employee’s health insurance coverage provided for in (1) above is deducted, shall be selected by the employee from the following options:

    1. to purchase with pre-tax dollars through the District’s cafeteria plan additional health insurance such as family/dependent coverage or other nontaxable benefits available through the cafeteria plan;

    2. to defer a designated amount to an employee-owned 403(b) or 457 annuities;

    3. to receive in lieu of nontaxable benefit additional taxable income; or

    4. a combination of (a), (b) and (c).

  • NT shall maintain a 125 Plan for eligible employees.

  • Employees may elect not to take coverage under the State Plan and receive in-lieu-of such coverage as compensation. In the event the employee elects not to receive such coverage, the employee’s total benefit $17,460.00 or $13,095.00 or $8730.00 shall be reduced by the difference between the cost of employee coverage under the State Plan above and the in-lieuof payment. The monthly “in-lieu” payment shall be the amount provided by state law.

  • NT shall maintain a life insurance policy of fifty-thousand dollars ($50,000.00) for eligible employees.
