Office of the Superintendent
The Board recognizes that one of its major responsibilities is the selection of a qualified Superintendent of Schools who shall act as the executive officer of the Board in executing the policies and guidelines the Board establishes. In this regard the Superintendent shall offer advice and counsel to the Board when the Board is formulating policy.
Generally, the Superintendent of schools is charged with the general supervision and operation of the schools comprising the Northeast Technology Center District. The Superintendent may delegate functions to other employees; however, in all instances, the Superintendent will be held accountable to the Board for those delegated functions.
The office of the Superintendent shall comprise the following duties:
Attend all meetings of the Board and participate in the deliberations without the privilege of voting.
Prepare under the guidance of the Board the agenda for all Board meetings.
Formulate and present for Board action policies, plans, and programs relevant to school policies and personnel.
Recommend to the Board proposals for curriculum revision which will effectively assist the District in achieving local educational goals.
Report regularly to the Board, thus keeping the Board fully informed as to the effectiveness of established programs and policies.
Prepare and administer the annual budget which guides, determines and limits the expenditures of District funds.
Recommend to the Board those persons for employment, promotion, transfer, reassignment, dismissal, or retirement.
Approve hiring of short-term and part-time personnel.
Evaluate the effectiveness of the components comprising the educational programs of the District.
Develop new programs for the school as conditions may warrant.
Recommending and directing subsequent improvements and expansion of District facilities and equipment.
Assume direct operational responsibility for all prescribed duties and responsibilities.
Keep or cause to be kept records and submit those reports required by the local Board and/or the State Department of Education.
Maintain a program of public relations so as to keep the patrons of the District fully informed about the programs and developing needs of the schools of the District.
Maintains a current understanding of legislative actions affecting management and operation of technology center.
Maintains productive relationships with state officers and leaders including legislators to promote technology centers, ensure stability of funding sources, and maximize an understanding of education concepts involving adult and secondary student populations.
Perform all such other duties and exercise such other authority as may be required, conferred or directed upon the Superintendent by law/or the Board.
