Board Policy 1000

General Information

This Board Policies and Procedures Handbook have been compiled for reference for Northeast Technology Center, District No. 11 personnel. This handbook has been developed by a joint effort of representation from Administration, Board of Education, and school personnel, both certified and non-certified.

Policies contained in this handbook have been developed in accordance with the Negotiated Agreement with the Association of Classroom Teachers and are not intended to be in contradiction with this agreement.

Members of the Board of Education feel that there is a need for written policy and a system for keeping them up-to-date. With the many changes at the state and local levels of school governance, board members and Administrators must deal with and reconcile conflicting demands from employees, students, community groups and parents. They must cope with changing social and economic conditions of our society. They must ever be receptive to new ideas and proposals for advancing the course of public education. Written policies can help greatly in the management of the educational enterprise.

Policy is defined as “A Board adopted course to be followed by the governing body and implemented through the Board’s Executive officer.”

A policy statement represents the Board’s common ground of values and is a statement of purpose which is visible, clear, consistent, and subject to review and change.

Approved by the Board of Education, September 21, 1998.
