Professional and Curriculum Development
Professional development and curriculum development are ongoing processes that should be continually updated by the instructor. All instructors are expected to participate in professional development activities that enhance instructional effectiveness and to maintain a curriculum that meets business and industry standards for training skilled employees. When technology advances beyond the reasonable scope of developing curriculum during the regular contract period, the Board of Education has directed each campus to budget appropriately to meet the needs of the individual campus. The following regulations will apply to the development of the curriculum:
All instructors desiring compensation for professional development activities during non-contract hours will submit a written request to the Campus Director a minimum of two weeks prior to the event.
All instructors desiring compensation for curriculum development during non-contract hours will submit a written request for curriculum update to the campus director by April 1st.
The written requests should include the following:
Written justification for the need for curriculum update.
Number of hours requested.
Description of new curriculum or enhancements of the existing curriculum.
Beginning and completion dates.
Desired outcome.
The new curriculum will be submitted to the campus director upon completion before receiving compensation.
Timesheets should be submitted to the campus director’s weekly.
The compensation rate is $30.00 per hour, effective July 1, 2023, for work performed during non-contract hours.
