Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Emergency (CARES Act) Financial Aid Grants to Students

Northeast Tech has signed and returned to the Department of Education, the Recipient’s Funding Certification and Agreement Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.

Northeast Tech received $228,188 for relief grant funding for qualified Adult students enrolled in approved programs. As of July 7, 2020, Northeast Tech had disbursed all $228,188 of the student portion of the grant. The grant was disbursed to 194 students in the amount of $1,176 each.

The estimated number of students eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 and thus eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the Cares Act is 263. Again, as of this date, May 20, 2020, no students have received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant under Section 18004(a)(1) of the Cares Act.

Northeast Tech has used the following methods to determine which students receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants: Email correspondence, Remind App, FAFSA application, current Pell eligible students, Self-Attestation Form posted on the website. All student response has not been received so an amount has not been established, however Northeast Tech is anticipating an across the board amount for each and all eligible students. The amount would be approximately $1095 per student if all 263 students are eligible.

All students who are not currently on Pell or who have not filled out a 2019-2020 FAFSA were sent Remind invitations through phone number and/or email.  These same students were also sent a Self-Attestation form through the mail, but were encouraged to fill out the 2019-2020 FAFSA.
