Industrial Rope Access Technician I/II (IRAT I/II) Course Description

Prerequisite: None.

This 40-hour course is designed for industrial and municipal (First Responders) emergency response team members who may be called on to respond to high or low angle technical rescues in an industrial facility. Industrial Rescue is 95% hands-on training that provides the skills necessary to meet OSHA and NFPA 1006 Rope Rescue standards. These realistic scenarios can be used to document practice requirements required by NFPA 1006. Classroom lecture will cover applicable OSHA, ANSI and NFPA 1006, 1670 standards.

Skills: Equipment selection, inspection and maintenance; knots; anchors; patient packaging; mechanical advantage systems; belay systems, lowering systems; rappelling, raising and lowering systems; system safety factors; litter rigging and tending; and pick-offs. Skills learned are then used in multiple rescue scenarios to put all the pieces together in our six-story Rescue Training Center.

Class Size is limited to 12 in order to ensure small student to instructor ratio for maximum learning and hands on for the students.
